Floor Waste Drain – Plunge or Dig
To keep your floors clean and dry, you need to keep the floor drain well-cleaned. When the floor drain clogs up, the liquid spills from the spilled liquids, water, or food stains are trapped in the drainage pipes. This causes a mess and the area around the drain gets stained and the drain is blocked.
Cleaning the floor drain with a sponge is the simplest way to keep the drain clear of accumulated liquids. If the drain is blocked and no other methods of cleaning the drain are available, you can try to drain off the liquids by placing a plastic garbage bag over the drain.
Water has a tendency to be very slippery. When you try to move water around on a floor, it tends to splash against the sides and get stuck in the crevices of the floor. However, if you place plastic bags on the drain, the water will flow easily into the plastic bags. If you are not very careful, the water may spill out and get into the room.
If you do not want to use a plastic garbage bag, you can try using paper towels. To put the paper towels inside the bags, use a paper towel roll and place the bag inside it. When the paper towels are soaked, you can rinse them out with water. If the paper towels get dirty, you can simply throw them away.
However, if the drain is blocked, you can try to manually clear the drain by putting pressure on the bottom of the drain by hand. You can try to turn the drain handle counterclockwise. If you cannot move the drain with your hand, you can use a wrench, which can force the water out.
There are times when you can simply empty the drain by opening the drain. When the floor drain clogs up, you should empty the entire sewage system. If you have multiple drains, then it is better to just drain the entire system at once.
If the floor waste drain clogs up after cleaning, you should consider using a plunger or a device for removing the blockage. In most cases, when the drain is clogged up, it may be that the drain pipes are damaged.
To solve this problem, you can simply use a plunger. If the plunger does not work, you can try to dig the block out by using the nozzle that comes with the drain. It is possible that the blockage is deeper inside the drain pipe and it would require more effort to clear the drain with the plunger.
If you do not want to use a plunger, you can try to use a device for removing the floor waste drain clog. You can try using an auger that is made for removing the blockage. This device can be used with the help of a wire and the auger can be inserted into the drain.
If the plunger does not work, you can simply use a wire brush. You can simply use the wire brush to push down on the inside of the plunger to clear the drain. However, if the clog is deep inside the drain pipe, it would take more effort.
There are some times when the drain is damaged, but it still works. In these cases, you can simply replace the old drain and put in a new one.
